Through a central piece, which contains the bathroom and the staircase, the space between the two existing levels is reorganized. Around this piece, the different functions are arranged: kitchen, living room, bedrooms, or study.

The original structure of the house is made with load-bearing brick walls (14 cm thick), which do not have interior bracing walls. The existing roof is made with timber rafters in poor condition, resting directly on the bricks of the top courses of the walls.
To minimize the risk of settlement of the existing foundation, a localized foundation is proposed, using 5 metal portals. These portals are connected to the existing brick wall to improve its performance. The new roof structure is made with timber rafters without tie rods, fixed to the perimeter timber beam.
The intermediate floor is resolved with laminated oak beams, as well as the roof rafters. The bathroom and staircase core is made with laminated oak plywood. The windows have been custom-made with laminated chestnut wood profiles.
To reduce energy demand, an external thermal insulation has been implemented using a SATE system. The house features underfloor heating, powered by aerothermal energy. The wood stove acts as a complement during the colder months.
